New California EETT Funding – Round 6

June 15th, 2007

Wow, this week has gone by in a flash – California just released a new application for EETT funding for schools serving grades 4-8. The goals are to incorporate research-based programs that support the federal NCLB Title 2d, state program goals, technology literacy and curriculum integration.

Generation YES has quite a few schools in California, so we got to work on creating some new documents that help eligible districts understand how GenYES students support professional development goals and technology integration, and how TechYES students show technology literacy through projects. Of course, when you modify one document, you find something else that needs sprucing up, and then you think, oh, wait, there’s new research to share… and before you know it, lots of late nights and the beginnings of carpal tunnel syndrome.

The result – a new webpage: California EETT Round 6 – Responses Using GenYES and TechYES

The page has two downloads, one for GenYES and one for TechYES, providing specific answers about the sections of the California application. We hope this will be useful for eligible districts thinking about expanding or starting new GenYES or TechYES programs. Previous EETT rounds in California funded over 40 schools using one or both of these models.

Non-Californians may find these useful for their own state’s EETT applications or requests for plans on meeting the NCLB 8th grade technology literacy mandate.

You’ll also find a couple of new research summaries on the impact GenYES and TechYES on student achievement, student and teacher technology use, and school-wide technology integration. For you research hounds out there (and we love ya…) there are also two LARGE downloadable literature reviews that offer a treasure trove of citations and quotes that support student empowerment, authentic assessment, project-based learning, constructivist pedagogy, and student-centered classroom practice using technology.

If we missed anything, let me know!

Sylvia
