This must be digital storytelling day!
Amazing digital storyteller Bernajean Porter just sent a link to share a story created by a group of third grade students in Seminole County, FL, Ms. Smith’s Sensational Journey that a couple of her DigiTales Storytelling Camp graduates facilitated with their kids.

She says,
-
“I think it is the cat’s meow and certainly sets a new bar for teachers of kids in middle school and high school who are not expecting enough from their kids’ creativity and craftsmanship. It is called My Life as a Granny Smith Apple. I especially love the ease of being able to say YES their story reveals depth of understanding about apples.”
I’ve had the pleasure of attending one of Bernajean’s digital storytelling workshops and love the way she combines her deep expertise of digital software and hardware with absolute joyfulness in evoking the storyteller in everyone. She shares her own knowledge in a way that enables teachers to go back to their classrooms with a deep understanding of the storytelling process and how to best enable it in digital form with their own students.
Last year we introduced a new unit in the GenYES curriculum based on Bernajean’s book and website, Digitales – The Art of Telling Digital Stories. The resources (free!) are fabulous and crafted for classroom use.
But the book and companion website are only part of the story. Don’t miss the blogs, podcasts and other materials on Bernajean’s personal website!
