What does our PD blend look like?
I’ve done a couple of posts lately about teacher professional development (What’s Professional Development) and how most teacher’s PD “diet” is pretty unbalanced (6 Degrees of Professional Development). I whipped up a quick Google Form to collect some data.
Take the “What’s Your PD Blend?” survey here
This is a real-time view of the data - powered by Google Gadgets.
[update: I had to start the data collection over again after I tested this out on some Twitter volunteers Sunday night. They helpfully pointed out some major inconsistencies in the survey questions.]

Sylvia,
This is a great post. I wonder how much your results will be “tainted” by the fact that a lot of people who read your posts will most likely take place in “informal” PD daily. Is there anyway to see the sample size?

Well, “tainted” sounds sort of negative. Let’s just say our self-selected sample has a built-in bias.
Unfortunately, Google spreadsheet has some weaknesses in displaying data in a list that changes size. The COUNT and SUM functions don’t work if they include cells that are not determined yet. So there may be a way to do this, but I haven’t figured it out yet.
As of Monday, April 28th, at 1PM PDT, the sample size is 29.

Sylvia,
Outstanding string of posts on PD. I thoroughly enjoyed the survey and your interpretations of the data.
I also appreciate you messing around with Google Gadgets. It’s great to be able to embed the live data view. Too bad you can see the Gadget in Google Reader.
